Monsplasty
Monsplasty (A.K.A. pubic lift) is a cosmetic procedure designed to reduce bulging of the mons pubis caused by excess skin and fatty tissue.

What is the mons pubis?
The mons pubis is the triangular-shaped prominent area of skin and fatty tissue over the pubic bone. It starts at the top of the pubic bone with the pubic hairline and goes down in a triangular way to your genitalia.

What causes a more prominent bulge?
Sometimes when women gain weight, they gain it in the mons pubis area. When a women loses weight, that area still protrudes out, even after a tummy tuck or liposuction procedure.

Why get a monsplasty?
Some women struggle with feeling too embarrassed to wear a bathing suit or tight pants. It can also sometimes cause problems during urination and during sex if it comes over the vulva, causing pain. Additionally, the bulge can make it hard to maintain good hygiene.
What to expect with the procedure?
Monsplasty is generally an outpatient same-day surgery performed in a hospital or surgery center. It is performed under sedation and local anesthesia.

How long does monsplasty take to heal?
The recovery time from the monsplasty procedure is around 4 to 6 weeks. Walking at a slow pace is allowed 1 to 2 days after surgery and you can generally return to work after about a week, unless your job requires heavy lifting or exertion.
