Hymenoplasty

Hymenoplasty is a complete reconstruction of the hymen to remove any damages or signs of trauma.

What is a hymen?

The hymen, also called a hymenal ring, is a thin membrane which covers the opening of the vagina.

How does the hymen break?

The hymen is usually broken or torn during sexual intercourse. It can also be torn by the insertion of tampons or sex toys.

Why choose hymenoplasty?

Hymenoplasty is usually chosen by women for cultural or religious beliefs in which virginity may be a requirement for marriage. Hymen restoration surgery will cause bleeding upon penetration.

How long will hymenoplasty last?
If nothing is inserted inside the vagina then it will last indefinitely. This includes sexual intercourse and avoiding the use of tampons.

Do you always bleed after the hymen is broken?

Not every woman will bleed after the hymen is torn. That’s why bleeding after intercourse is not an indication of virginity.

How long is the procedure?

The hymenoplasty is a relatively short and painless procedure done in our office under local anesthesia in about an hour.

How long does a hymenoplasty take to heal?

The recovery time is 6 to 8 weeks.
